French Polynesia

French Polynesia
Society Islands
We have visited French Polynesia in April/May 2013 and we were fascinated by the beauty of these islands. We had chosen Tahiti, Bora Bora and Moorea to get a first impression of this part of French Polynesia also called the Society Islands.
TAHITI
Tempting Tahiti, the island of love and largest of the sensual islands of French Polynesia, has long been a magnet to those seeking a tropical paradise and, from the moment that visitors step off the plane, the perfumes of frangipani and tiare capture the senses... From the soft light and the gentle warmth of the climate to the exotic beauty of the scenery and the tranquil pace of life, Tahiti is the perfect setting for romance and relaxation. We recommend a sightseeing tour around the island to see some of the beautiful tropical gardens, spectacular waterfalls, bizarre mountains and beautiful beaches. It is also very interesting to learn more about the culture and the history of this island from your local tour guide.

Bora Bora
We think the pearl of the Pacific, Bora Bora, undoubtedly has one of the world's most beautiful lagoons. It is a very romantic island where most of the hotels have created a private paradise for honeymooners or everybody else who enjoys the beautiful setting of luxurious bungalows over the turquoise lagoon. We suggest an island tour with your private guide to see the whole beauty of Bora Bora.
The lagoon offers one of the best dives in the world with warm water and multi colored fish. We loved to see the sun setting behind the glowing Otemanu mountain – an unforgettable spectacle.
We recommend staying in Bora Bora for at least 3 days or doing a little bid of “island hopping” as we did.
If you like to cruise this beautiful part of the Pacific we can recommend Paul Gauguin Cruises or set sail on a private yacht charter, cruising the magical blue waters of 4 of the Society Islands in French Polynesia, including the idyllic Bora Bora.

Moorea
Moorea is just a few minutes flight from Tahiti or 30 minutes on the ferry. It is like a beautiful garden set on a perfect lagoon. We loved Cook's Bay and Opunohu Bay which are slashed into the island and the lush green heights in striking contrast to the blue of the lagoon. The Belvedere Lookout at the centre of the island offers breath-taking panoramic views of both Cook's Bay and Opunohu Bay. We would recommend to hire a car or to book a personalised guided tour to discover the beauty and the quiet life of the island. Don't miss a typical Polynesian culture show. We have seen a lot of culture shows on different islands in the Pacific and in our home country New Zealand but this was absolutely the best. Beautiful costumes, amazing fire dancers, typical music and a lot of fun for everybody. Please feel free to ask us about our Moorea experience, more tips for "things to see and do" and the best hotels to stay on this incredible island.
